The traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony for Tram and Anh’s wedding was held in Garland, Texas the morning of the wedding day. Being a Vietnamese wedding photographer in Dallas, I really enjoy this particular part of the wedding day.
The groom’s family came over to the bride’s family home with trays of gifts and asked the bride’s hand in marriage. A representative from the bride’s family accepted the gifts and presented it to the family. The representative then introduced all the family members of the bride’s family. There was also a representative for the groom’s family. He introduced the members of the groom’s family after the bride’s family were all introduced. Then the mother of the bride went upstairs and brought Tram down. She looked beautiful in her traditional red ao dai.
Tram and Anh then offered tea to all the elders of the family on both sides. In exchange, the family members offers them blessings, well wishes, and gifts.
I get emotional sometimes hearing the well wishes the family members says to the bride and groom. You can definitely tell how much the bride or the groom means to them. I love the significance of the traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony because, to me, it ties the two families together. This particular Vietnamese Tea Ceremony was just as beautiful for Tram and Anh.
