10 Tips for Your Wedding Day

Hello there friends!

Here are some tips for your wedding day that I thought would be useful. Having gone through the wedding planning process and the wedding itself, these are some things that I think every bride should know!

  1. Hire a wedding videographer.

I used to think that this would be a waste of money and I would never watch my wedding video because who has time to sit and watch a few hours worth of wedding footage? But nowadays most videographers create a wedding highlight video summarizing your BIG day in less than 10 minutes. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched my wedding highlight. Every now and then, I would watch it and it brings me right back to that day. I highly recommend everyone get a wedding videographer.

2. Hire a professional wedding photographer and make sure you guys are on the same page.

I am not just saying this because I am in the wedding photography business. Hiring a professional wedding photographer makes all the difference. First of all, these are going to be the pictures you post on your social media and the ones you are going to enlarge and frame up on your walls. Secondly, they will be the photos your children and your grandchildren will be looking at once you are long gone.  Please do not skimp on this one.

3. Do a trial hair and makeup run.

That makeup look or hair-do on Pinterest  might not look the same on you as it does on the model in the picture.  Doing a trial hair and makeup run will show you exactly how you will look on your wedding day so you can adjust whatever you don’t like.

4. Have a day-of wedding coordinator.

I can not stress the importance of this.  Even if you do not hire a day-of coordinator, you can appoint someone close to you (your mom, sister, close friend… ) to be this go-to person. This is the person that will keep an eye on the timeline to make sure everything runs on schedule and it is also the person that everyone should go to with questions on anything.  This is so you can just simply relax and focus on enjoying the day.

5. Have all the little details you want photographed set aside in a box so you make sure not to miss any details you want photographed.

You spent so much time picking all these little details for your wedding day. Therefore, you are going to want to make sure they get their spot in the limelight.

6. Have a timeline and make sure you give enough time for everything.

You may have to wake up a little early to make sure you have enough time for hair and makeup. In addition, you may need to ask your maid of honor or best man how long their toast will be. Just make sure you give enough time for anything you have planned.  Once you have this timeline, don’t forget to share it. You will want to share this timeline with your day-of coordinator as well as all the vendors of the wedding day.

7. Spare where you can but don’t try to do it all.

It’s one thing to try to save by doing a few DIY’s but trying to take on too much for the wedding day will just have you stressed out and wishing you had hire someone to do it for you.  So be careful what you take on, and make sure you have plenty of time to complete whatever you are trying to accomplish yourself.

8. Delegate

and make sure your entourage know what they have to do and when they have to arrive.  This includes the flower girl and ring bearer.  If you need help setting up the guest table or decorating the cake table, make sure you hand off the task to someone.  Your bridal party is there to assist you with whatever you need help with so make sure you use them.

9. Make sure to have snacks and little meals prepared.

(breakfast, lunch, etc…)

10. Relax and enjoy

You can’t control everything and the day will definitely not be perfect. However, you’ll always remember how you feel on that day. So in conclusion, just relax and simply enjoy the fact that you are getting married to the love of your life. In addition, all your loved ones are going to be there to witness and share in on the celebration! 🙂
